"Top News In Nigeria" Ahead the 2015 elections, Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam has begun scheming how to outwit his former benefactor, Senator Barnabas Gemade representing Benue North–East Senatorial District and maneuver his way back to the National Assembly.
To
achieve his ambition of joining other governors who transited from
Government House to the National
Assembly, Suswam has begun quite early
in the day, by flying a kite. He began by sponsoring a group posing as elders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Zone A, which has began
campaigning that Gemade is not a good lawmaker and should be replaced
in 2015 by Suswam who they argued performed excellently while a member
of the House of Representatives.
The
group led by Mr. Atoza Hidan, Dr Limbee Shande and Chief Jack
Tilley-Gyado has already endorsed Suswam as their Senatorial candidate
come 2015.
According
to them: ‘’During Suswam’s tenure, as a federal lawmaker, representing
Sankera, his achievement were very glaring. As a governor, he has done
great, so he would use his experience to better the lot of our zone’’
Senator Gemade, erstwhile national chairman of the PDP has averred that he is not in a hurry to let the seat go. He traced the scheming to Hindan, whom he described as his brother -in-law, and someone with inordinate desires
Gemade speaking to journalists at his Makurdi residence described the endorsement of the governor as a conspiracy against the people of the zone. The lawmaker adds that he
had supported Suswam sometime ago to win the House of Representatives
election as a young man against the will of his in-law, who has become
the greatest benefactor in the state.
“I
want to warn Atoza Hindan to stop using my name to get benefits from
the state. His action against me is enough because he is trying to risk
my life. As a politician, I will not take it.
Gemade, further described the elders
in the zone as reasonable people with integrity who would not dabble
into politics of pressuring uninterested individuals to contest
elections, contending that investigations have proved that elders from the area were not involved in the purported endorsement.
