News on Top "Nduka Ugbade reveals how Super Eagles can beat Zambia on Friday"

Afcon - Moumouni Dagano & Godfrey Oboabona - Nigeria vs Burkina Faso

Former Nigeria international, Nduka Ugbade has revealed how the Super Eagles will triumph over Zambia in their second Group C game of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ugbade who was the first African to lift a World Cup when he captained the U-17 to win the cadet championship in 1985 noted that the Nigerian team can brave the odds to get the three points against the defending champions on Friday.

"The Super Eagles can get the three points, but they must do a lot of things right in that game," Ugbade told Goal.com.

"They must forget what happened in the game against Burkina Faso. They must not remember that they conceded a late minute goal.

"The players should know that they are playing the defending champions, but they should not show them too much respect.

"They know the three points are very important and they must do everything possible to pick the points.

"The players should convert the chances that comes their way. It is one thing to create the chances and another thing to turn them into goals.

""It is important to score when the opportunity presents itself. Zambia is located in a place where the altitude is high. So the players can start and finish a game with the same intensity.

"That means they can last long in a game without getting tired. If it is only in 70 minutes that our players can give their best, they must make sure that they not only score the needed goals, but also be able to use the remaining 20 minutes to tighten the defence so they will not conceed a goal.

"Finally the players should be able to know when to kill off a game and not commit elementary mistakes like what we witnessed before the Burkina Faso equaliser.

"I know that Zambia will not be easy, but  I am confident our players can rise to the occasion by picking all three points," Ugbade said.
