Breaking News: NFF makes U-turn on CHAN

Nigeria Football Federation may have rescinded its decision to pull out of the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) billed for South Africa next year.

The NFF was criticised for taking that backward decision, most especially after the Super Eagles won the 2013 Nations Cup in South Africa.
The first round qualifier for the tournament is billed for the weekend of June 21. Nigeria was drawn to face Cote’d Ivoire and according to an official of the NFF, Nigeria could still host Cote’d Ivoire in the first leg as the federation has not written to CAF, signifying the country’s withdrawal.

“The NFF is yet to officially communicate CAF of their position on the CHAN qualifier.
“We have not given up on the Eagles participation. We are hoping that we can raise the money to ensure that the efforts of the federation in camping these home boys in the last one year are not in vain.
“You would agree with me that we are yet to make an impact in the CHAN. It’s not a thing of pride that Nigeria have not featured in CHAN since its inception,” the official told mtnfootball.com
The NFF technical committee chairman Chris Green had informed that the federation will about N120m to prosecute each qualification match.
